Fleece Tie Blanket~Great Gift Idea

Happy Friday, friends!  Hope everyone has had a great week. Today I have a quick project to share with you all and it makes a great gift idea.. fleece tie blankets!  Not only do I love paper crafts, but I love many other crafts, as well. I just like being creative period! :) As you all know by now that I love owls. Well, I also have another addiction that I haven't mentioned. Strawberry Shortcake! lol I grew up playing with those doll and now my oldest daughter loves them, too. So here is what I made..
If you haven't ever made one before, you should! They are so easy and people love them. You can either buy a "kit" with the 2 pieces of fleece included already cut to the same size or you can decide what size you want to make it and just choose 2 pieces of fleece and have them cut at the same size. Keep in mind you will be cutting around all of the edges so leave extra room for the "ties".

Just in case you want a little tutorial I will share a few photos with you. You put the 2 pieces of fleece together with the sides you want showing facing out. Line them up and then you cut off all corners like this..
It does not have to be perfect. As you can see, mine is not even close! lol After cutting all of the corners, you start cutting the fringe part that you will tie. I just use my Fiskars scissors but you can also use a rotary cutter. Here's what it should look like..
Then you start tying. Make sure you have them lined up right. One time when I got to the very last strips to tie, I realized I had messed up..not good! Un- doing all of the ties is a pain in the behind! lol Here's what the ties look like..
After you get the strips/fringe all tied..you are done!

How easy was that?! They are soft and warm with the two layers of fleece. You can use a coupon at Joann to get a discount on the fleece or the kit. That's what I do. Hope you enjoyed my project! Have a great Holiday weekend! Thank you for stopping by to visit!

TGIF and celebrate card

yay..it's friday! the weekend has officially started. hope every one has some fun things planned this weekend!
i have an all day crop to attend tomorrow with a bunch of my crafty friends. i'm so excited..can't wait! comment and tell me what you are doing! i'd love to hear about it. :) so, i made another card today just to have when i need one. i find that cards are so much faster so i can actually finish one of them in a bit. a layout takes me forever and i'm usually still not happy with it! for this card i used kraft cardstock for the base, my minds eye papers, (both sides of one) my close to my heart cricut cartridge for the cupcake cut at 2 1/2 inches, ctmh cupcake stamp,  (if you haven't seen this the cartridge has stamps with it and tells you exactly what size to cut it so you can stamp it with for a perfect fit) viva decor pearl pens for the "pearls", glue arts dimensional dots, inkadinkadoo inks (brown and black), a piece of ribbon from my stash, and my threading water border punch by fiskars, and a stapler. i have had the viva decor pearl pen for a long time and never think to use it. i think it looks pretty nifty! lol well, that's my card for today, kids!  ;)  thanks so much for dropping by! i hope you have a great, crafty weekend! xo,hl

easy bake oven-kory's sketch

hi all..tonight (last night) i went to a blog that i follow called scrapiverse. you can find it here http://scrapiverse.blogspot.com/ ...anyway, kory posted a couple of sketches he made up earlier and i told him i'd give one a shot. i actually have never used a sketch before. i just start cutting and gluing and it's always a suprise..lol i like how it turned out..it was cool having something to look to know what you need to do next. so, since this one turned out pretty good, maybe i will try another one of kory's sketches when i get some extra time. thanks kory! for the layout i used papers by the paper studio, cloud nine design letters for the title, and prima got flowers.i used my cricut to cut the circle at 10.5 inches and threading water border punch by fiskars. :) i worked on cleaning up my crafting space most of the day/night. i felt the need to try it out so, i found kory's sketch at the perfect time! hope you all have a great weekend! thank you for stopping by to visit my blog!! xo, hl
